What each role actually does
- Affiliate coordinator or specialist. The entry role. Recruits affiliates, processes payouts, runs reporting, and keeps the program healthy day to day.
- Affiliate manager. Owns a program. Recruits and grows partners, negotiates rates, and hits revenue targets on networks like Impact, PartnerStack, CJ, and Awin.
- Senior affiliate manager. Runs larger programs or several at once, sets strategy, and often mentors junior managers.
- Partnerships manager. Owns a wider partner mix that includes affiliate, referral, and integration partners.
- Director of affiliate or partnerships. Owns the channel, the team, and the budget, and reports into marketing leadership.
Where affiliate jobs are posted
- LinkedIn and Indeed. The largest volume by far, with over a thousand United States affiliate roles on each at any time.
- Performance Marketing Association job board. Network, agency, and brand side roles from PMA members.
- Niche boards. Affjobs and Martech Record for affiliate and commerce roles.
- Network and brand career pages. Impact, Awin, CJ, and large publishers like Red Ventures and Dotdash Meredith hire affiliate and commerce staff directly.
How to break in, by side
Network side. Join a network like Impact, PartnerStack, CJ, Awin, or Everflow as an account or partner manager. You learn the tooling and the whole market fast.
Brand side. Run an in house program at an ecommerce or SaaS company. This is where most affiliate manager titles sit, and where you own real revenue.
Publisher or agency side. Manage affiliate content and operations for a publisher or an agency. This suits people who come from content and SEO.
The skills that get you hired
Three things show up in almost every job description: relationship management, comfort with data such as tracking, EPC, and attribution, and hands on experience with the major networks. Knowing how Impact, PartnerStack, CJ, Awin, and Everflow work is often listed as a requirement. The Reliability and Trust Index and the networks pages are a fast way to learn the landscape.
