What DiscoverCars is
DiscoverCars compares car rental prices from major international brands and trusted local companies. Its affiliate program is run in house and also accepts travel apps, such as offline maps and city guides, as well as websites.
What it pays
The structure is unusual. You earn 70% of DiscoverCars' profit on the rental plus 30% of its Full Coverage revenue, the insurance style cover sold with the booking. DiscoverCars puts the average at about $20 per booking, or roughly 3% to 5.5% of the booking value.
Its own worked example is a seven day economy rental in Reykjavik with Full Coverage: 70% of $8.72 profit plus 30% of $47.71 coverage revenue, which comes to $20.41. Most of that came from the coverage, so bookings with Full Coverage are worth far more to you than bare rentals.
Tracking
The cookie lasts 365 days, one of the longest in travel. A reader who clicks in January and books a summer road trip in June still earns you the commission. Payout method and minimum are set out in the partner terms after joining.
Who it suits
Road trip itineraries, island guides and destination pages where a car is the obvious way to get around: Iceland, the US national parks, Portugal, Crete, New Zealand. Any page that says rent a car is a natural place for the link.
Our take
A year long cookie and a transparent worked example make this one of the stronger travel programs for content that ranks long term. The payout depends heavily on Full Coverage, so the $20 average is an average, not a floor. Ungraded until there is a payout record.
