What OpenFate is

OpenFate is an AI astrology and Bazi product. It builds free charts across six systems, Bazi, Zi Wei, Western, Vedic, Human Design and Sukuyo, then sells AI readings, compatibility reports, timing guidance and oracle-style follow-ups on top of them. It calls its approach calculation first: the chart is computed, and the AI interprets a result rather than inventing one. It runs in English, Japanese, Korean and both Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and it publishes an open-source Bazi server on the Model Context Protocol registry.

OpenFate's homepage claims more than 50,000 active users and a 4.8 average rating from over 1,200 reviews. Those are the company's own figures and we have not verified them, but they are specific enough to hold them to.

What a referral is actually worth

The commission is a percentage of what the customer pays, so the price list decides what the program is worth. On the day we checked, OpenFate charged:

There are also yearly plans, one-time credit packs and 30-day passes, and all of them qualify. Because the commission recurs on every renewal, one Pro Max customer who stays a year earns you roughly $120 at the starting rate. That is where this program's value sits: in the renewals, not in the first sale.

The rate: 20%, then 25% after 11 paying customers

The default program is recurring and tiered. You start at 20%. Once 11 distinct customers you referred have ever paid, future eligible payments move to 25%. Refunds do not knock you back down the count, and no percentage rule ever goes above 25%.

One detail most programs would not bother to tell you: the 11th customer's first payment is still paid at 20%. The rate is taken from the paying-customer count at the moment the payment is processed, so the switch applies from the payment after the count reaches 11. It is a small point, and exactly the kind of thing that turns into a support argument elsewhere.

OpenFate can also approve custom terms. The one it names publicly is a guaranteed partner deal: locked at 25% recurring permanently, with OpenFate absorbing refunds and disputes so your commission never reverses. It is not the default, but it tells you there is room to negotiate if you bring volume.

What counts, and what does not

Eligible purchases are paid point packs, paid prepaid Pro or Exclusive passes, and paid subscription invoices, renewals included. Free usage, starter credits, failed or unpaid transactions and invoices with nothing actually paid do not create commission.

A coupon does not disqualify a purchase. Commission is calculated on the positive amount Stripe reports as paid, so a discounted sale earns on the discounted price. Commission stays in the currency the customer paid in, and OpenFate does not convert it for you.

Attribution: no cookie, and permanent once it lands

The specification box above lists a 60 day cookie window, which is how this directory labels the field. It is worth being precise, because OpenFate does not use an affiliate cookie at all, and its model is better than one.

After approval you get a short link such as openfate.ai/r/yourcode. A click is recorded on OpenFate's server, and the visitor's browser holds a one-time proof in local storage. If that visitor creates a new account within 60 days of the click, the server checks the proof against the recorded click and attributes the account to you. Once that happens, the attribution is permanent. There is no expiry, and it survives the customer clearing their browser or switching devices afterwards.

The rules around it are strict and written down:

• First valid attribution wins. A later partner link cannot overwrite yours, and yours cannot overwrite theirs.
• New accounts only. An existing account can be attributed only within 24 hours of being created. You cannot claim a customer who signed up last year.
• Same browser until signup. OpenFate does not fingerprint or track across devices. If someone clicks on their phone and signs up on their laptop, or browses privately, automatic attribution can fail.
• The link is the only route. A coupon, an IP address, a phone number or a verbal mention does not create attribution. There is no code a customer can type in later.
• Self-referral is blocked both when attribution is claimed and again when a payment is processed.

The practical consequence: this program suits links people click and act on in the same session. Podcast mentions and "use my name at checkout" do not work here.

Deep linking is supported. A link like openfate.ai/r/yourcode?to=/bazi sends the visitor to a specific tool in their own language, which is useful when you write about one system rather than the site in general.

Getting paid

A commission is created only when Stripe confirms a successful eligible payment, not when someone opens checkout. It then sits as pending through a normal 30 day review, which also covers the refund and dispute window, before it becomes payable. An administrator can approve a commission earlier.

Payouts are manual and monthly, with no promised calendar date. There is no automatic minimum threshold, which is genuinely unusual and good for a small partner. But payouts do not run through Stripe Connect or Wise, the application does not collect payout details, and the payout method is agreed with OpenFate directly. OpenFate's own advice is to confirm your country, destination and any documents it needs before relying on the income, and we would repeat that advice.

Refunds, and one clause to notice

On the standard deal, a refund or an opened or lost dispute reverses the matching commission, and a won dispute restores it. OpenFate's customer refund window is 7 days from purchase or renewal, so most reversals land early, inside the 30 day hold.

The clause to notice: a partial refund reverses the full standard commission, not a proportional share. OpenFate describes this as conservative, which it is, in its own favour. On a low-priced credit pack it will rarely matter. It is worth knowing before a customer asks for a partial refund on an annual plan.

The dashboard

Partners see lifetime totals for clicks, signups and paying customers, plus the most recent 100 referrals, 100 commissions and 50 payouts. Each commission shows the gross amount, the rate applied, the currency, its status and when it becomes available, with a frozen snapshot so a later rule change cannot rewrite history. Customer emails are masked, and partners never see card or bank details.

The limit: there is no self-service export of your full history yet, and an older reversal can change a lifetime total without appearing in the recent table. Screenshot or record your figures monthly if you care about reconciling them.

Applying

You need a signed-in OpenFate account to apply. The form asks for your name or brand, platform, audience and promotion plan. Every application is reviewed by hand, with no promised turnaround, and a rejected applicant can revise and resubmit. Your short code is assigned at approval and cannot be renamed yourself later. No promotion channel is pre-approved: describe what you will actually do, and check with OpenFate before running a materially different campaign.

Keep this separate from OpenFate's friend referral program, which grants points rather than cash. Only the partner link in the affiliate dashboard earns commission.

Who this suits

Creators already covering astrology, Bazi, Chinese metaphysics, Human Design, tarot and self-discovery. The audience fit is narrow and specific, which is a strength: people who search for a Bazi reading are already the customer. Because the product runs in Japanese, Korean and Chinese as well as English, you can send those audiences to it in their own language.

It fits badly for broad AI tool roundups whose readers will not convert to a spiritual product, and for any channel that depends on spoken or offline attribution.

The honest read

Ungraded for now, since a Program Score follows a track record of cleared payments and this listing is new. But this is the most thoroughly documented attribution and commission system we have seen from a program of any size. Nearly every question an affiliate normally has to email about, from what happens at the 11th customer to how Stripe retries are handled, is answered in public, in plain language.

What is strong: recurring commission on subscription renewals, a rate that rises with your results and never falls back, attribution that becomes permanent, no payout minimum, commission snapshots that cannot be rewritten, and an operator willing to write down the edge cases.

What to weigh: payouts are manual with no fixed date and no stated payment rail until you agree one, the cookieless attribution needs the same browser from click to signup, a partial refund wipes the whole commission on the standard deal, and the niche is narrow enough that the wrong audience will not convert at all.

Our take: if you already talk to people interested in astrology or Bazi, this is a strong program with rules you can actually plan around. Settle your payout method with OpenFate before you publish anything, and point your links at the specific tool your content is about.
